In fiction news...

I want to do cyberpunk. I don't mean the semi-cyberpunk dystopian future that's often a backdrop to my fiction, I mean real cyberpunk. Or maybe cipherpunk, if I can swing it. Enhanced humans, worldwide computer network which is visually immersive, massive corporations and franchises, rebellion, the whole nine yards.

The only things I have for inspiration is an image of Croatian hackers imprisoned, forced to write spam e-mail virii and the Muse track "Deadstar". And a weird image I've got of spider software, ever since I started using it.

Hrm. Time for anoher reinvention of the genre, methinks. Then I'm going to do something stereotypically pulp. Yeah.

I'd go for a hacktivist angle, myself. Look up Blondie Wong and the Hong Kong Blondes. It may be a lie, but it's one I've like to believe.

Between you and catnik, I have an idea for a whole timeline. Cyberpunk with harmonics as the emergent tech rather than nanotechnology, hacktivists trying to open-source harmonics as the governments try to control it, both not realising that it is the key to the singularity and thus the supercontext. Cyberpunk by way of the Invisibles.

You know how to fire my brain. Thanks, man.
