I can't stop my hands

Even when I want to. I found myself writing this as my painkillers wore off. It's a guide to the basic software every Windows user should have if they're going on the Internet. It is deliberately written for the lay-reader, which was the real challenge.

Now *that* I liked.

Don't get me wrong, I like being attacked when you unleash the fury on all those "Windoze lusers" all the time, as it makes me feel like a special, retarded cultist, and that makes me laugh.

But this Idiot's Guide to Stuff was actually pretty useful for me and a learning experience, seeing as I only ever use the 'net to send mail and argue with people.

See I was thinking of just exploiting all the holes in windows they haven't patched to get the job done.

For quite a while now I've been meaning to get AdAware and Spybot, but time has pushed such needs right off the schedule. That, and my ISP keeps coming out with all these new fangled additions that claim to kill adware and spyware. Your post gave me the incentive to DL all that I've been meaning to DL. Thanks, O Mighty God of Booze, Crowbars and Tech for getting me motivated. :-)

Similarly, the post inspired me to finally getting around to downloading Firefox. I offer my thanks as well.

I'd have thought you would have got it earlier, given the name.

That makes both of us, actually. But never underestimate the sheer laziness of an American college student.

I enjoyed that. Informative, to the point, complete with links to the relevant web sites and not written in a way which is too technical, yet not hopelessly condescending either.
My only query would be the very first paragraph - I suspect your target audience won't understand it at all. Not that there is any need for them to do so; it's not aimed at them, but still, it can be off-putting if it's the first thing they read. In light of the second paragraph which tells us who the piece is aimed at, you would maybe be able to cut the first paragraph?
I can see why you included it, so I am still in two minds about if it really needs cut or not, but...

That was a very good, clear article and full of useful info. Now, I think it could be spread around... making money from publishing it would be nice, but just because it is so useful I think it should be reproduced.
