Site Revamp

I've talked about this in the past, but the more and more I think about it the more I'm sure I'm going to get around to it. I have a plan sorted out for hosting and the like, the real problems I have are twofold.

The first is obvious: Design. I know the general type of look I want to go for, but I'm not a damn artist, I'm a programmer. I know more how I'm going to code this than how I'm going to have it look in the end, mainly because I find picking out the bits I like and don't like about other sites out there to be very easy, but can't come up with a tangible form of a design to save my life.

Content-wise however, things are easy. Or at least I think they are. Hence this post. The new site will have, in sections:
  • Fiction - The fiction from here, cleared up and possibly rewritten in response to feedback, on the very unlikely chance that any of you bothers to do that any more.
  • Nonfiction Roleplaying - Stuff on game design, conspiracy building, converting settings and systems, mechanical design and that sort of thing. An excuse for me to work more on the stuff I have.
  • Science, Math and Programming - Because sometimes it's worth emptying my mind of such thoughts. Also gives me an excuse to ramble at length on cognitive science.
  • A research blog. $DEITY knows I need to put that crap somewhere.
  • Possibly some political stuff, though that's not certain.
Anything I'm missing? Anything that doesn't fit? Anything?

Resume/CV/professional portfolio? Someplace to showcase your academic work and research?

That might fit under Science, Math and Programming, though.

Nah. I think the resume/portfolio stuff should be under a separate section. But it's a really, really good idea.

And Stew? What the fuck is up with this possibly political stuff? Bugger that. It should be there. Your writing in Enemy territory is some of my favorite stuff so a refined section devoted to political topics would be a good idea.

True enough. ET is presently for political ranting, if I could keep the bile and hate level down and focus on ideas it'd be a worthy section. But that's a big if when it comes to me and politics.

I think that's a good idea. An area with academic writing, professional and academic experience, that kind of thing. It'd be seperate from the science/math/programming in that the latter is me editorialising and rambling about things, whereas the former has stricter guidelines.
