*smirks* I have to wonder about that too, not that it lessens the appeal.

Ah, leave it to the Lutherans...

In Denmark, Lutheran priests are employed by the state and bishops do not have the power to dismiss them.

See, this is part of our "no government-sponsored religion" for a reason. Government employees are already hard enough to get rid of for being incompetent...

Ms Rebel described Mr Grosboel's comments as "totally unacceptable".

How shocking, the fact that he's basically calling the entire religion he's supposed to represent a fraud is unacceptable. Shocking.

"With his comments, the pastor has created confusion and uncertainty about what the Church stands for," she said.

Now they know how linux feels. ;)

"One nation, under God". You have it in everything but name. We have it, but control is delegated to the Archbishop of Canteburty from the Queen, and thus he gets rid of the idiots, and the country can get by in a nice quiet state of socially acceptable agnosticism rather than socially enforced Christianity.

State sponsored would mean more tha things saying "under God" or "In God We Trust". Lots of religions believe in god or a god or many gods, saying "god" doesn't negate any of them. Now if it said "In Jesus name, Amen" it'd be different.

There's also a big difference in being Christian and being a Deist. Our country's founders were Deists for the most part.

Hell, I'm a Deist.
