Note to Self

When going away on holiday, it's a good idea to put things like USB keys in a secure location. Especially if this is the USB key with all your writing, including the drafts of There's Only Music So That There's New Ringtones and the new project, Birth Of Empires, along with notes and ideas for Red In Tooth And Claw.[0]

It's a far better idea to remember what the location is. Half an hour of rabid panic later...

I tried reading my flist yesterday. I got to 240 posts back and was at 2am Thursday, GMT. Needless to say, I gave up. I've since been playing lots of City of Heroes, getting my primary to 21 at last (I only started playing almost three years ago...). Don't suppose anyone's kicking around on the Euro servers still? Occasionally, it'd be nice to hit things with someone else around.

I'l write up the holiday and have pictures for your edification and delight later.

Traveling home tomorrow. Bringing JackFrost with me, and the intention to finish off those words that I still owe, and some redlines if possible. I'll be around, in other words.

[0]: People who know what's what will probably know which is which, but the rest can't be told until the books are announced as normal.

My USB key -- an 8Gb weatherproofed one -- lives on my keyring, because it's as important to me as my house keys, i.e. very. And I've managed to go out without my keys about three times in 20 years, and to lose them ... never. (While outdoors they're clipped via a flexible cable to my jacket, to reduce the risk of dropping them.)
