A Question of Style

I have a lot of coats. Unfortunately, my leather trenchcoat was bought before I finished expanding, meaning that I can't huddle down in it when it rains, my biking coat with the armour-plating and the fleece is too damn hot, the greatcoat rated for a Russian winter is really too damn hot, and a cloak isn't exactly work-appropriate.

For work, I've thus been alternating between the Suit-Jacket of Doom and my traditional Knackered Leather Jacket™. It wasn't always knackered, but wearing it through twelve years (including five times as torchie or steward) has left it's mark. The stitching is falling out, and I've had to repair tears with black duct tape. Unfortunately, the last bits are failing. I refer of course to the pockets. I thus need a jacket that will actually hold things in the pockets, rather than dropping them through to the lining.

Had a poke around Armstrong's on the Grassmarket this morning (was going to head to the Newington one but the pissing rain put a downer on an otherwise damn fine plan) and was amazed at the selection—but they mostly had vintage stuff that was all too damn small.

So the question remains: how am I to replace it? Traditional biker has it's appeal, as does the mid-thigh mod. Decisions, decisions.

glasgow seems to be crawling with leather jackets shops, including biker cut not biker jackets, which seem to occupy a nice middle ground
