Dear god am I sick of buggy web browsers

I should never have started playing with web design tricks.

The example earlier has been redone with a light pastel blue in place of the drab grey background. That's the easy part.

Everything I've spent the day doing turns out to work in FF3/Win and IE7/Win, slightly b0rked on Opera/Win but b0rked hideously on */Mac. So it's useless. Fortunately, it's just a stylesheet I've got to trash. And I learned a fair bit.... at least, I think I did. It remains demoralizing to have to scrap a whole bunch of design because it doesn't work as intended.

Fortunately, I've managed to consume twice my own mass in pizza. Today demanded that.

I've given up on what I was trying—using • characters manipulated with bizarre CSS to fake rounded box corners without using images—because I can no longer be fucked.

Ewww… ick.

How 'bout using CSS3 rounded border rules for browsers that support it, and just allowing more primitive browsers to display them as square?

That is indeed what I'm doing.

"Graceful degradation" is a phrase I live by when adjusting sites for IE6.   8^P

I'll bet.

Thanks for the second viewpoint. It's a big help.

No prob, glad my input is of some use!

(Also, it's nice to see a site which isn't six shades of ugly.)   8^)

The use of proper HTML&CSS for the victory of sanity.

It's been too long since I touched any of either, and I've been re-learning the basics along with best practice.

...I've finally checked the page I was fighting with in IE, and it's fuck-ugly still. Bah.
