HTML shit

Marquee tags are the spawn of Satan himself and all those who use them should be cast into some firey Hell from which there is no escape for their affronts to good web design.

Can I get a hell yeah!

Marquee tags should go to the same Hell that blink tags ended up in. Nasty, nasty thing those were.

I also maintain that 95% of Flash animation should go there as well.

And teletubbies.

Blink tags went to Hell. No good browser renders them any more, nor do many rather shit browsers. I just wish Marquee would do the same. It's a perversion of everything HTML was designed for. You want attention getting, you were given the millions of options to the <font> tag (that CSS is slowly doing away with like acidic poison), and there are even some arguments for Font to be kept around. Note that this "some" is most certainly not equal to "many".

The only way to cure the ignorance of people online who think they know HTML is with a 2x4 <plank>

Eh. On occasion we use them on our journals [we being Glenn and I], mainly to get folks' attention for something important. Like a show or a birthday announcement. But theyre not good web site design tools. Agreed there.

Y'know what we should do? Take the guy who invented marquee tags and throw them, still almost alive, in the same glass-lined shallow grave I have set aside for people who insist on making shitty Flash banner ads when shitty animated .GIFs are perfectly 'satisfactory.'

and please add all the people who use java applets for mouse overs!
(that's my pet peeve - I will wait for java to load for a game or a chat room or something remotely cool. I don't want to wait for 23 applets to initialize so you can have them turn from one solid ugly color to another solid ugly color when I mouse over them. It's gotta be easier to borrow the javascript code than to deal with all the applet crap anyway. )

Oh, they have their very own bath of battery acid saved just for them. Abuse of technology should be a capital crime.
